Often times when we see homeless person in the city, we don’t know how to help. If you are interested in assisting the homeless, here are some suggestions:ready made bags for the homeless

Alert Professionals

Commuters usually pass homeless people every day but don’t know how to help. One of the easiest things you can do is contact a professional. There are programs around the city that feed and offer some shelter to the homeless. Connecting the homeless with professionals means connecting them with someone who can help.

Give Little Things

A homeless person can only keep what they can carry. Here are a few items that are often appreciated: Socks, gloves, hats, scarves and books.

Remember the Animals

Sometimes a dog can be a homeless person’s only companionship and protection. Providing dog food for a canine companion is always a nice gesture.

Volunteer

There are a number of different churches and organizations that have structured programs for the homeless around St. Louis. The St. Patrick Center, Gateway 180 and Haven of Grace are just a few. These organizations would greatly appreciate the gift of your time.
