Maplewood

Maplewood was one of the early suburbs of St Louis. Located just outside the city limits it was once considered a getaway destination from the busy downtown living. Many of the historic homes built from 1900 to 1910 are still standing and well preserved. Today it still offers a small-town feel.

This area is popular with hipsters and has a trendy vibe. Maplewood is where you go to find unique handmade gifts by local artisans. You can find homemade treats, custom t-shirts, artisanal breads, leather goods, metal goods and multiple wellness studios. Maplewood is also home to the first ever Green Dining District. These eco-friendly restaurants have committed to minimizing their environmental footprint. It is a foodie’s paradise with menus offering farm to table local foods.

But like many of St. Louis’ favorite neighborhoods, if you plan to move here you will need to be patient. Turnover is slow. People love the small-town city living, their neighbors and their local retailers.
