Soulard is one of the oldest parts of the city, just south of downtown St. Louis between 7th Street and Broadway and I-55. Soulard is a culturally diverse community with a rich history. The area is named after Antoine Soulard, a pioneer Frenchman who first came to the area in the late 1790s. The neighborhood was granted its historic designation in 1972. The homes in this Soulard are full of character with a variety of styles including brick rows, alley houses and Victorians.
Today Soulard is a bustling community known for its night life, variety of restaurants and bars, walkable shopping locations, live music venues and annual festivals. It is home to St. Louis’s Mardi Gras celebration and the pet parade which holds the Guinness Book of World Records for the most costumed dogs in one place in the world.
With so much to do you will never get bored living in Soulard.
